My husband and I, along with two friends, embarked on another Whole30 starting on Monday, July 24. I didn’t take any weights or measurements, as I can safely say that knowing where I was starting wouldn’t have been very motivating. I know how poorly some of my clothing started to feel, so we can go with that as a starting point.
I honestly didn’t expect to wait so long after our last attempt at Whole30 #2, which lasted five days. We have just been so crazy busy this summer that it’s been hard, but finally I had to say “enough is enough” and go for my second attempt at Whole30 #2. I was excited to learn that my husband and friends were interested in doing it with me.
Now that we are 10 days in, I can say that it’s been a great transition. I haven’t had any ill effects and the Whole30 has been much easier to commit to than I remember. I haven’t had many cravings and feel like I am making good choices. I am not feeling or sleeping any better, but it’s only been 10 days. I have 20 to go.
I have also been doing CrossFit again, since the beginning of June. I started going with my son, who is preparing for his sophomore year of high school. His baseball coach encouraged him to get stronger this summer, and I thought this would be a good way to get strong and have fun together. Because of my back, I have been taking everything pretty easy, not pushing myself like I once would have. Interestingly, I have felt zero pain from doing CrossFit, other than a little impact pain from running and jumping. But, squats, deadlifts, cleans, etc. have all been great.
Sitting down or standing up seems to be the culprit, but that’s a whole other issue. I have been to the neurologist and go again in a couple of weeks. I think he is a fantastic doctor, so I hope we can figure things out. I also got a referral for a new sleep doctor and requested that my previous sleep study be sent to them, so maybe things are headed in the right direction.
I hope to be able to write more soon, as the insanity of life slows down a little!!
